What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan?
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a national dental benefits program created by the Government of Canada to help make dental care more affordable for eligible Canadian residents.
It’s designed to cover a wide range of dental services for people who don’t have private dental insurance and have a family income under $90,000 per year.
Would I qualify for the CDCP Plan?
✅ Who is Eligible?
To qualify, you must:
Be a Canadian resident
Have no access to private dental insurance
Have an adjusted family net income under $90,000
Have filed your tax return for the previous year
What Does CDCP Cover?
The plan covers many preventive and basic dental services, such as:
Checkups & cleanings
X-rays
Fillings
Root canals
Extractions
Dentures and more
Coverage levels vary depending on your income, and not all services are covered in full. We’re happy to help you understand your benefits!
How much of my treatment is covered?
Coverage depends on your income:
100% coverage for income under $70,000
60% coverage for income between $70,000–$79,999
40% coverage for income between $80,000–$89,999
You may have to pay a co-payment for some treatments.
Do I need to apply for the CDCP?
Yes. You must apply through the Government of Canada. Visit Canada.ca/dental to check your eligibility and apply.
